How I got started.
At Nichols Taxidermy Bases, this business is more than just woodworking—it’s a legacy built from a love of hunting, craftsmanship, and preserving memories.
As a hunter myself, I know the feeling of standing behind a trophy animal. Every mount carries a story—long hours in the woods, the challenge of the hunt, and the pride of the moment. I started building pedestals and bases because I wanted those stories to be displayed on something worthy, not just a stand that blends into the background.
What began in my shop as a hobby quickly grew into a calling. Friends and taxidermists began asking me to build custom bases for their mounts, and word spread. Today, I handcraft each pedestal with the same care I would give my own trophy—choosing quality hardwoods like walnut and barnwood, paying attention to every detail, and creating pieces that last a lifetime.
